building that was his primary school until he built his own studio. I trained in the group classes there and privately with Ed, receiving my first, second, and third degree black belts from Mr. Parker. After receiving my first black belt, I opened a Kenpo school in Pomona California, and within the year, my school became an Ed Parker franchise school.

During my training with Ed Parker, he made many trips to San Francisco to work with the Gung Fu people there, and consequently I saw a large influx of Chinese Gung Fu into the Kenpo system, making it more Chinese then Okanawan. In respect to the Chinese influence, I call what I teach Chinese Kenpo Karate. I'm teaching this part at my school in Phelan, California.
